The Broken Parcel Part II – Sunday Picture Press: Fixed & Broken

Mike wrote a piece titled The Broken Parcel for this week’s Sunday Picture Press over at Indigo Spider. He requested a response from a ‘fixer’. And so I thought I’d add a snippet in the form of a drabble, leaving the field wide open for a Part III.
Any takers?

The Broken Parcel Part II
Mr. H. has a way with words. So when he calls, you listen. You always got a choice – I know there’s guys who don’t think so – but there’s the easy way and the hard way with him.
“You know Jimmy?” he asked, sucking a cigar.
“I know a lotta Jimmys, Mr. H.”
“Jimmy, whose mother sells flowers down on 94th. Hard working lady.”
“That Jimmy? He wanted a job on the boats two days ago.”
Mr. H. sucked his cigar. “Boy needs fixing.”
“How badly be broke?”
Mr. H. thought about that while he blew out smoke. “He’s in pieces.”

Ditrie at Catch Some Wide Eye graciously passed Shipwreck on to a couple of e-newspapers who were kind enough to publish it. Thank you very, very much Ditrie (and those who published my work). It makes me feel like a gazillion dollars!

A tremendous read. I’m so glad you took up the challenge. This guy certainly sounds like a ‘fixer’.
